New Member, with some Questions

Hey, I came across this community a couple weeks ago, and have been checking it more than once a day. I am not a current owner of an Evo, but it will be my next car, and I hope to be able to purchase it sometime after summer.

I was wondering how you guys bought/currently pay for ur Evo? Like did you buy it flat out, or did you put a down payment down (how much), and what do you pay a month. Also, it would be helpful if you listed what your current job is, or what job got you the Evo .

Reason I ask this, is because I currently don't have a full time job, I work in the summer, and earn a good amount of money, but no wheres near enough to purchase an Evo. However, after the summer season I will be getting a full time job, and that is when I will be seriosuly looking for an Evo.

Any responses as to how to go about buying an Evo (best way, etc.) would be appreaciated.

Just another new curious Evo owner 'wannabe'...

Thanks guys.

actually it is $442/mo. I got a really good deal on my car I found it with only 781 miles from an older gentlemen I bought the car for $26,500. He only took it out in the summers and it still smelled new even after 2 yrs.

0 down, 31k OTD.

6% with just about $600 a month payment.

I'm a civilian aircraft mechanic @ Andrews AFB plus Im an E-6 in the Air National Guard.
All said and done about 60k a year according to the tax man this year.

The thing about the evo is not the actual monthly payment. You can do alot better than $600 a month with good credit. Its the maintence costs. The synthetic oil, tires, brake pads, 93 oct gas, high insurance rates.. it all gets expensive quik.

Im not trying to discourarge you, but just wanna let you know what all your getting into.

Well I would also have a good down payment to put down.. so that would decrease the payments per month, correct?

Gas, and stuff is just gonna be normal. A lot of cars these days take the higher octane's. That would be something I'd have to adjust to. However, tires, etc.. would come later. I plan to take excellent care of the car to prevent things from wearing out.

Here's the site I used to figure out what my monthly payments may be:
http://www.autoworld.com/apps/calc/autocalc.asp

Hope it helps, I know there are hundreads of these sites. I expect I'll be paying a little over $540 a month if I get a new Evo VIII and put about $2000-$3000 down. That would be with 5% finance over 72 months. And that's if I can get the car out the door at $35K (before down payment). SC car sales tax maxes out at 300$ o_O

I'm a 24 year old software engineer @ about 55K/year.

Good luck on your purchase!!

Yea, I'd have a down payment of somewhere around 5-10 grand most likely. So I would hope the payments would decrease a bit.

To add to this. It does get exspensive quick if you go to the dealer. Even though lots of people do go for warrenty concerns, I rather take the time to change the oil myself, change the pads, take off my rotors myself and go get them turned at a local shop. It saves big time when your doing the labor yourself. Plus if you break something you at least know about it instead of some mitsu junky telling you otherwise. Oh! and its fun!

I agree with that, I like to do things myself rather than pay someone to do it for me, unless of course its something 'important' or something I can't do.
