Turbo Timer bad for MR edition
Turbo Timer bad for MR edition
I just recently heard a rumor about tt's being bad for MR editions. Is there any validity to this claim or what?
I have an Apexi tt installed and it works wonderfully but if its bad I suppose I should remove it.
Has anyone ever heard a thing about this?
Yes I did a search you hatin bastards -_- (jk)
Thanks guys.

thats bs no turbo timer is bad for your car. but if you cant find out if its true or not i guess u can always take it off and just let your car cool down everytime i did that for awhile with my last car.

thanks for the input. im not sayin' i do that, heh.. i make sure my car runs for a couple mins after some good drivin'. yeah right i'd hurt this thing. well, only sometimes, but it likes it.
this has been a lingering question of mine ever since my friend with a '92 300ZX told me his turbo started to severely leak because he habitually shut off his car without letting it cool down. he had about 150,000 miles which is why i asked. thanks.
For my daily commute, I spend most of the time sitting at red lights and only a few minutes on the highway. Thus, even if I go all out on the highway, I don't really need to let my car cool after (I keep the TT turned off) because it cools while sitting at red lights and such.
Of course after I finish a track session, I let it run for a while.

I remember about 6 months ago a post about turbo timers hurting evo's in general... Something with maybe ignition? I can't find the thread but I remember a lot of people saying stuff about it...
I guess my understanding is that the oil temperature being too high the oil "cooks" in the turbo bearing section when the motor is shut off. This in turn leads to turbo failing. The whole point of letting the car idle for a few minutes is to allow the oil to circulate and cool or cool the turbo down. If that's a wrong assumption then my question earlier is not on point.
