Question Equipment

What should I have, tool-wise, to do some basic mod installation and maintenance on my evo? And, what types/brands do you prefer/suggest?

Buy a 140 Piece Craftsman Socket Set, full set of Craftsman Wrenches, and a good Craftsmen screwdriver set. You can't beat the quality of a craftsman tool, or their lifetime waranty under normal use. The tools will last a very long time as long as you dont abuse them. Snap-On also makes very nice tools.... They are very expenive and I dont think they have a lifetime waranty.

If you're looking for good reliable tools, definatly go up to your local Sears Hardware and invest in a full set of Craftsman.

I dunno if it's local or national, but a company named Harbor Freight makes an AWESOME jack that doesn't weigh too much, and is low enough profile to fit under my car with the coilovers... you want the kind of jack you want... if you're lifting the whole car, you want one that can hold at least 2 tons (4000 lbs) and will fit underneath enough to jack it up and jack it up high enough for the job/s you plan on doing (ie the jack that comes with the car is plenty decent for changing tires). Be careful with jacking an Evo (if that's what you're jacking up) as the underside of the car is very weak in places and you can dent up into the passenger cabin if you're not careful. If you can't pick a jack from that bit of advice, good luck on working on the car...
