Average Price for MR's

Last weekend I went down to my local Mitsu dealership with a friend to look at a few Evo's. I'm in the market for trading in my '98 VW Passat 1.8T (heavily modded) and was looking at the Audi A3. When we looked at the Evo's my mind had changed. We set our eyes on an '05 Evo MR, having 9 miles on it. The sales rep said that the car had been sitting for 2 weeks. But, talking to some other people, they had said that the car hadnt moved from its same spot on the corner of the lot since November.

So, if I go in and start working a deal with the dealer, what kind of price should I be looking at? Sticker was about $35k with a $1000 markup (not included). More then likely, I wont be doing any financing through Mitsu, as I will be going through my insurance company. Will I get a better deal?

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated,
Steve

Get it around the invoice price. don't pay more than 34k. I know a sales person who will give you at 33.5k or below.

Many dealers in Hawaii have that extra markup listed. Even many non-popular cars have it. In fact, every one of the seven new cars I've bought here had those markups listed (Evo being the most), and I've never had to pay it... ever. Only complete idiots pay it, so don't fall for it.

you think thats expensive?... here in dominican republic an Evo costs 61 thousand!!.. sure its JDM, but hey! i could buy two Evos in the US... for our short luck we can always go to florida and pay 30k for one plus 1,200 for the ship and like 10k in taxes but not everyone know that here and they have paid 61k for one :S. dont feel bad hawaii

A friend of mine was talkin to me earlier tonite and was like "Don't buy the MR. It has like 7mpg." I'm givin him a weird look going "You sure?..." Is that some funky rumor going around now? If it's true I can only think of racing it to get that kinda mileage but then again.......It shouldn't drop below 15mpg even racing. lol.

I've seen GSR's marked up to 'bout MR MSRP or more. I looked at the dealer like "You're crazy..."

Talk them down. If they really wanna get rid of it they'll give it to ya.

on a track, it gets less than 7. i got about 5.5 one time, and roughly 8 another.

I can't understand why i waited to get one.

I bought mine MSRP, no markup (I think that was 35.5 or something) the very week they first hit the dealer floors. Absolutely no way at all that you should pay over MSRP. In fact, I'd be looking at $500 off or something if it's this late in the year and considering the Evo IXs are basically the same car...so the MR won't be anything special compared to the 9s which are going to be flooding the dealerships.
