Posting how much you make combined is LAME. You should not make or allow your wife/gf contribute one red cent to your EVO. I am all for sharing the mortgage cost and living expenses, but this is YOUR car so pay for it yourself. The post asked how much money you make and NOT how much you and your GF/wife make.

I will make 98K this year and I do live with someone, but how much she makes is not my business. I do not know how much see makes, nor do I care to know. I just give her half of the expenses and that is it.

Salary ranges will definitely vary depending on location. Cost of living is so high out here in CA, so everything is scaled up compared to other regions of the country.

how romantic! Maybe with a girlfriend, yes, but if you're married then I TOTALLY disagree. Seperate checking accounts, yes. EVERYTHING "dutch"... no way. I couldn't be married to someone and not know/care about important details of their life and share everything. That's kind of the point of being married

Another important reason that what you make together is that we're talking about affording the Evo after everything else is paid, and even if you're splitting living costs and paying for the Evo yourself, that's a lot different than paying for everything on your own PLUS paying for the Evo making a certain amount...

Combined income of 43k. My tiny townhouse cost me $85k, and my wife drives a Yugo (I get the good car even though she makes more). All of my purchases are made with a credit card, and I'm on my parent's auto insurance policy thank goodness.

My girlfriend delivers newspapers with her roomates usually on sunday mornings @ 5 a.m., other than that she goes to school part time to learn English and works the rest of the week as a child care giver.

Geez, my AGI is well over 100K and I'm single, yet I could never bring myself to spend $30,000 on a car. My last car was a Sentra SE-R that I bought new in 1993 and I only got rid of it a couple of months ago (12 trouble free years). I can't even imagine someone making $30 or $40K and spending it on a car. There's one thing better than a nice car and thats being financially capable of just walking off your job!
