Time for a change.

After much thought and deliberation (and many hours of comparative research), I've finally reach the decision to make the transition to Mitsubishi. My formerly-heavily-modified 04 WRX is going away and a new Graphite Gray Evolution XI MR will be coming home with me. I considering trading up to an 06 STI, but I think I've spent more than enough hours in the engine bay of a Subaru for now. So it's time for a change, and the Evo XI MR is the ticket. If all goes as planned, I'll have the car within a month.

Smart man! Just remember that it's a IX, not an XI.

Oooo. I come out of the gate with multiple typos. That sucks. Gotta be more careful.

at my local dealer, theres about a dozen wrx sedans and wagons sitting in the front. looks like a subaru dealer at first cant believe the amount of trade-ins around here for an EVO.

Welcome to the darkside. I did the same a couple years ago. Traded in a modded 02 wrx for an 03 EVO, best car move I've ever made.

I was thinking of trading in my VW R32 for a 06" STI but I saw the light and went with a EVO 9 MR instead. By the way Graphite Gray is the best colour choice.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I just got back from Beaverton Mitsubishi where they let me take a silver 06 MR out for a test drive. Color me duly impressed and comfortable that this is the right way to go. Unfortunately, the only Graphite Gray car in the northwest is somewhere in northern Washington, which sucks but is still doable. Looks like they're gonna hit me for MSRP on the car, though. Not sure I can break em loose of that or not. I'll keep y'all posted.

Good choice, I'm sure you'll enjoy the IX just as much as I enjoy mine. Just got a head unit and speakers installed, and man I'm really loving the IX RS now.

Not as many as WRX/STi to EVO. I think the main reason for EVO owners making the switch is the poor Mitsubishi customer service and in some cases reliabilty issues. But as far as performance, very few I've read left the EVO because they felt that the STi/STI was a better performance platform, the same cannot be said of WRX/STi/STI owners making the switch to the EVO. One great example is a guy who use to own a 360WHP STi and he spent a substantial amount of money on that setup, bought an EVO and two months was nearly equal to the power output of his STi with 1/3 money spent.
