Question intake

i was wondering if taking off the front part of the air box (the part the covers the front part of the filter and the tube that runs to the grile) on an 02 es lancer (or any kind) would reduce power?

does anyone know what the most beificial intake is? I heard it was the new AEM V2. correct me if i am wrong.

IMHO I think it would hurt, it sounds bad *** but it will constantly be sucking in hot air instead of cold.

cold air means more horses

I'd agree with Rob above, but if you're gonna do it anyway, I'd leave the hood scoop there and at least some cold air will still get channeled to it.

filter boxes aren't good. I'm extremely happy with my RMR filter. It's essentially the same as RRM's..so between the two you've got a safe bet. It actually is kinda loud. and the hood scoop on my car guarantees I'm getting atmospheric air into the intake

Moving to the newbie forum. Intake questions have been done to death, and it should be quite easy to find answers on just about any questions.

and why is that? You mean the feeder tube for the intake? or a scoop like I have on my lancer?
