Deliver'd!
Deliver'd!
So they just dropped off my 06 GG MR - 5 days early, might I add. Quoted 10 days from L.A. to Portland, delivered in 5. Gotta like that. Many thanks to Mark @ South Coast Mitsubishi for making this happen, all done from 1000 miles away.
But now the fun begins.
Off to DMV for temp registration crap then out onto the wet, nasty roads of Portland, OR.

The RC51 quite a machine- it falls into the category that most 1000+ cc superbikes do, that being "stupid fast". Unfortunately, I don't ride it as much as I'd like since it seems more and more people pay less and less attention to the little 2-wheelers these days. Unlike the MR, which I'm going to be driving the nuts off of.

The fact that Mark could deliver the car to their terminal was a big help.
I dealt with Bernie at DAS (nice guy) and even though I'm on the "slow boat" (14-16 days) he thought it would take 10-12 days based on their schedule.
I'm cautiously optimistic

) was still down in the Bay Area. So I had DAS ship the WRX to Mark in L.A., terminal to terminal instead of door to door (I had a friend drop off the WRX at the terminal in San Leandro) which cost $748 with expedited service (7 days instead of 9). Had I known how quickly it would get there, I'd have saved the cash on the expedited shipping, but hey, hind sight, 20/20, that kinda thing.Once Mark received the WRX and approved it for trade-in, he FedEx'd (actually DHL's, but that's a technicality) the paperwork up to me, complete with pre-paid return shipping. I signed everything, included title, extra keys etc for the WRX, and DHL'd it back to him. Then we arranged shipping for the MR from the dealership to Portland. I was quoted 10 days for the shipping time to get the MR up here, but it arrived in 5. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased.

If it's just across the country, I'd be surprised if you didn't see the car in a week or so.Use your tracking number on the DAS website and you can see where your car is at any given moment. It's pretty damned accurate as far as I can tell. Then you'll have a better idea of when the car will arrive.
I wish you the best of luck though. Hopefully your delivery will work out as well as mine did.

Thus far, I'm very pleased with the car. I only had a chance to put about 15 miles on it, so I'm still learning the car and doing the break-in thing. Gonna try and rack up a few hundred miles this weekend - might make a run to Seattle or something just to get past the first 600.
