Safe Boosting on a stock evo.

Hello everybody! My name is Ryan. I live in So. Cal. I'm in the process of getting a new evo, but I had a question. After my 800 mile break in period; I wanted to know what is a safe boost level to run on a new, stock evo? say if I wanted to add an electronic boost controller, what is the safe max level (if any) at which I could turn up the boost? Or do I need a new tune before I go playing with the boost levels? Thanks everybody!

PS. Sry if this has already been posted, I did a quick search, and nothing of this nature came up, but if there is a thread on this subject, can someone please send me the link? thanks again!

There are tons of thread discussing this but you would be super safe setting it at like 19-20.
Still pretty safe at 21 psi.

Just my .02

The only thing safe on a stock Evo is stock boost. Don't go adding a boost controller just to change your stock boost. It's not useful, not helpful, not particularly safe, and not even worth thinking about. If and when you get exhaust and a tune, then 20-21psi should be fine on your 91pisstane.

+1 of course there is no answer to that question anyways, it depends on a lot of things such as gas quality, if you get a bad batch boom, but its safe to turn it up as long as you are not knocking, but without a tune i wouldnt go over 20

with the proper tuning, the IX can peak at about 23psi on 91 oct.
