Non turbo'd evo vs lancer ralliart

Out of sheer boredom, I ask the question. If someone gutted out the turbo and made it strait engine on an evo, would it beat the Lancer Ralliart? Ralliart if I remember had a higher liter engine then the evo does. Would the AWD make up for the loss if both cars were on the ends of being stock? Makes me wonder if the ralliart is a better platform if it was converted to AWD and had a turbo installed; would it surpass the evo?

Even if it was the same HP/TQ output without the turbo, the AWD loss would hurt the Evo...

For the most part its a question that is much nore intricate than a yes or no answer.

Really the Evo's motor was designed as a strong basis for a turbo....so removing it and tuning it to natrual aspiration would negate very many of these features.

In essence, YES, the Ralliart would be more powerful due to its higher compression (I think) and larger displacement.

Otherwise...the 4g63, especially the MIVEC cars are pretty advanced...but I doubt anyone would ever do this.

The evo would probably lost not only because of drivetrain losses, but also because of the lower compression pistons. Meh.

There is the your answer.

You cannot simply compare the two like how you want, the EVO engine is designed to be boosted, while the ralliart engine can also be boosted, it will never be on the same playing field as the 4G63. The 4G63 is one of the best engines of all times period and the EVO X with out the 4G63 will have it's work cut out for it.

This is an interesting question which no one will know for sure what the answer is.

Yes the evo engine is designed for a turbo, but that does not end the argument.

I think it will still be a better performer. The suspension components are better then a ralliart, brakes are better, plus the body and chassis is stiffer. How heavy is a ralliart (I dont want to search) but that may be its only strength, if it is significant enough?

This is a silly question. A turbo engine is designed with lower compression pistons to accomodate all the extra air that will be forced into the engine. A turbo engine without the turbo is not a complete engine. My 4 speed automatic 100 HP toyota paseo could probably beat a turboless Evo (it could also probably beat the Lancer Ralliart too hehe).

Your paseo couldn't touch a kio rio, nevertheless a ralliart.

Hmmm I'm pretty sure I could come close to beating a ralliart, a stock ralliart weighs:
2,843 lbs and runs a 15.5 sec 1/4 mile. My toyota weights 1750 lbs, and has intake and exhaust. A stock toyota paseo runs 17s so who knows. Pretty sad

Non-turbo 4g63: 135 hp

Having said that, like others said, the 4g63 is really an engine designed to be turbocharged. It has lower compression and strong internals.
