Soldier needs help with evo 9

He everyone. I registered on this forum while on leave. I need some help. I bought a new 2006 Evo IX. Its got 144 miles and it is blue. I wanna mod it, but don't know a whole lot. The first few mods I am gunna do are intake (HKS Racing or suction intake), exhaust (not sure, but 3 in piping for sure) and a chip. I hear people talking about ECU flash and piggy backs and all that stuff, but I have no idea what they are talking about. What do you all think of my picks on int & ex and i need some help figuring out what kind of "chip" will do me the most good. I dont have a lot of performace stores around, the closest is 100 miles away. Thanks

The term chip I haven't heard it mcuh in our cars, I know Porsche, Audi and VW, tuned a lot with the chips in the past but anyway you can do a mail in flash that way you don't have to drive far.

Look on this forum under tuning topics, you will find a few tuners that offer mail in tuning. I don't want to say any tuner because it might sound like favoritism but look under tuning forum and you will find plenty.

What branch of service? USAF here..

Okay, first, soldier to soldier, I'm going to tell you to search. There are a million and one threads at this site to help you decide anything that you want to do. Particularly search for posts made by Warrtalon so you can look at his sig. I suggest you get a package that he offers. If not his package, at least the same parts.

Also, a chip? Umm, yeah, you REALLY need to search. There are no "chips" perse. Check out Dynoflash.

And forget the intake.

go to www.vishnutuning.com they will reflash your ecu in about a three day time frame. so you send it there the day after the next you can pop it back in and be good. i did it right when i first got my 8 back in 03 and felt a big diff right away.

That`s so funny I had a guy fck with me last night that was from missouri, I don`t know if he was a "soldier" but, he was a definenty a drunk PeckerWood. He kept spitting on my face when he was talking and was yelling stuff about the CHIEFS and hitting his chest. It`s a crazy story being as i`m in Japan and I accidently said what`s up to a "soldier"

i`ll never fall or fold up!

If we want to talk about fast service I got my Evo 9 ECU back in 42 Hours (6000 mile round trip) from Al (DYNOFLASH) bro.

This is NOT a history I am talking about a neighboor or a friend, this is a real history, we sent the ECU and he had it ready almost instantly and keep in mind that also Al called me twice to ask me a question about the tuning and I was not available to answer and he had to wait to finish the tuning after he spoke with me. It would have been even 2-4 hour faster turn around..

Another soldier here with an EVO IX,...........do NOT get an intake, you will lose $$$$ AND Horsepower,...........if you must just get a nice High Flow drop in filter,......I have the WORKS filter,......very nice, more air flow than the K&N,........but, that is minor,.........do get a full Turbo Back exhaust, with a cat delete if your state allows it for inspection/emissions purposes,.......do get an ECU reflash, I have WORKS as well, like 600.00, but they can raise your boost to 21 PSI,. ... launch control to 6000 RPMS,..........they are easy to talk to and quick turn around,.........,..........the exhaust w/ an ECU flash will be the biggest jump in horsepower for reasonable cost, depending on how much $$$ you have to spend. REsearch teh exhaust befopre you buy one. Also, I would reccomend getting some nice rugged T-Bolt clamps for you Intercooler Piping, asx the stock ones suck. Good luck.

I really don't think anyone will actually loose HP by installing an intake. Some will make your car run like crap, yes. Most of them won't rob power if tuned correctly though.
