Problem with my new 2006 EB IX

hi there, My name is mike and I"m a newbie. Just purchase my first evo. I currently have 434 miles on her. I started to smell gas at stoplights and when I had the air conditioner on. I thought maybe this is the exhaust as these cars run rich( I think). But I was wrong. Yesterday I took the car to the body shop to have the trunk and hood repainted again, due to one stupid dealer detailer, who took a razor blade to the trunk to remove a decal. He put five razor cuts to the metal. anyways that 's another story. They said they smelled the gas as well. So we lifted the hood and started to look around and we found the gas was leaking around the fuel rail or injector. Just curious if anyone has had this same problem. Or just a freak thing that happened to me.

thats something that shouldnt be common with ANY car. What do you think would happen if the fuel hit a spark plug ? exactly. Call the dealer and tell them to come tow it (make sure its a flatbed).

It happend to me last month, i pulled the fuel rail off right away and found that inj #1 had a crap Oring but my car is heavily modded. I was lucky to not catch on fire.

In your case.....Warranty warranty warranty! And yes, have the dealer tow it back to their shop.

i had the samething happen on my 03 8, smelled gas and noticed it was coming from my fuel rail by the fuel reg. had it replaced under warranty.2 months later it leaked again from the same exact place, replaced again under warranty. 6 months down the road the same leak in the same spot again. This time i said screw the stock rail and bought a perrin fuel rail and never had a problem after that.

wow that suckss but just look at it on two positive notes:

1) its gonna seem so fast when you get it back because youll have been driving a jetta or an odyssey all weekend.

2) it was all fixed under warranty
