New Evo IX Owner

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. I just picked up a 2006 Evo IX a couple days ago. This is my first import and first car with a turbo... a former Z28 owner. After driving this I certainly have a new respect for the import scene and plan to jump in with some mods shortly.

There's a lot of great info on this forum, so I know I'll be visiting all the time.

Here are some pics of the new ride..

Nice car. Looks exactly like the car I would have gotten if I had decided to get a new IX instead of my '05 VIII, Tarmac Black with SSL.

Should be quite a change from a Z28. Probably less straight line power, but definitely more handling. Be sure to break her in right, but then go to an auto-x or a HPDE (High Performance Driver Ed) road course event and you'll be amazed at how well a stock Evo can handle.

Congrats on the new ride!

Mrich, great choice. If you need any help with modding or racing, let me know. I'm down the road in the Springs, so I can help you out in person if needed plus point you to the right places to get work done, etc.

I race up there at Bandimere (drag) and DIA (auto-x) each month, so let me know if you want to meet up.

Btw, I know you just got the car, but Dynoflash is coming to town to do a custom tuning trip for all the local Evos. It may be too early for you to get tuned, but if you want to see a bunch of other Evos getting tuned, stop by.

Thanks a lot Warrtalon! I've never heard of anything at DIA.. what's it all about and when is it? And when/where is the Dynoflash tuning? I'd be interested in checking that out too. I'd like to meet some other locals with Evos. Thanks again man.

The local SCCA Rocky Mountain region does most of its autocrosses at DIA in one of the overflow parking lots. In fact, the National Tour is coming through our region later this month - both the regular autocross and ProSolo (drag race start, head-to-head mirrored course) in back-to-back weekends. Unfortunately, I can't attend them this year, since I have a newborn, and those are 2-day events, but I go to all the one-day regular events. Check here for the schedule/forum/results:

http://rmsolo.org - I participate in Street Modified (SM) with the only Evo MR in the region.

The Dynoflash tuning trip is this next weekend down here in the Springs at Revolutions Tuning. All the details can be found here:

Thanks for the links. I'll look over the autocross stuff and check it out next month probably. I should be able to make it to the Springs on Sunday too... need to get those "break-in" miles out of the way anyways. I'm very interested to see some other Evos with mods already installed.

Do you work at Revolutions Tuning? Will you be around there all day Sunday?

Thanks again for the local info!

I had an LS1... '98 Z-28. Didn't do anything to it but a flowmaster exhaust and a K&N filter. I also had an '85 6-banger and an '87 IROC a while back. Always had a love for Camaros and I plan on restoring a '69 before my funeral
