Help me...Valentine One
Help me...Valentine One
Hey guys,
I bought a valentine one a couple of days ago and it doesnt seem to be working at all for me. I've already got pulled over once by a statie...im getting a tons of false signals...especially near gas stations, malls, and markets...I bought this thinking it picked up signals from far away...but it only beeps when im almost in front of where the signal is coming...I didnt do anything to it...just took it out of the box and put it on the evo, im confused as **** why its not working right. and now im scared of having a little fun if the V1 is just gonna be useless in protecting me. If anyone can help me out or tell me what I should do to increase accuracy on it let me know. Thanks!

Please don't be one of those people who assumes that since they have a radar detector they basically won't get caught, still use common sense.
Nontheless, it takes a few days to get used to a radar detector, after about a week or so you begin to memorize where the false signals are so you can ignore them.
IMO the best setting for the V1 is the big knob @ 3 o'clock and the smaller little dial at 12 o'clock, and have it set it at the small "L" setting. The smaller L setting enables it to beep loudly if it thinks it's a serious/real warning and has a quieter beep to just warn you that it is picking up a signal. That way it won't be as annoying.
My first v1 broke within 2 months and only showed laser warnings, I sent it back and now it has been working perfect ever since. It's a great investment.

i still drive with common sense and I know that I could still get caught...cops dont need to clock your speed to know youre going fast or wreckless...thanks for the help. Ive had it for about 2 weeks but I dont think I ever took the time to notice the signals.
Is your v-one new or a used? Might be your area uses the new pop radar and you have an older model that doesn't pick that up. Of course like someone suggested your unit might be broken. Also might be you're getting tagged with laser (I figure you would know that though) in which case you are just plain lucky to ever get an advance warning of such a signal since it always directed.
As for the false-alarms, use the built-in logic to filter those out. I find the lower-case L setting, I think that's the max filter setting, will remove most of the false-alarms you find annoying. I've found around here in Northern VA I have yet to miss a legitimate detection and yet much if not all non-cop signals are filtered out. In other words it keeps the v-one quiet.
Oh, you'll find some tail lights send the right wavelength light to trigger the laser detector... nothing you can do about that. I think many GM vehicles tend to do that for me hehe.
