misfire?detonation? when Idle???
I was just wondering if the misfire or called detonation was a normal aspect of the 2005 Evo's? my car does it when the clutch is pressed down and when its not pressed down, I use to have it in my old honda prelude but that was due to age the evo has about 10,000 miles and i was just wondering if that was normal? its like a jumpy idle, the car moves front and back?
or i could be lost on this whole thing and should i get it checked at the dealer?
thanks

Detonation sounds like someone threw some marbles in a metal can, and is shaking it up. is that the sound? have you changed the plugs? have a vaccuum/boost leak? need more details on when/how/etc...
haven't changed the plugs, not like marbles in a metal can, its like a stuttering sound when the car is idle, and when i hold the clutch down, and when i put it in gear before hitting the gas,

Your clutch could be "engaging" and wanting to move the car forward, and start to stutter/bog down. maybe adjust the clutch pedal? have you checked to see if the clutch is going bad? go 1st/2nd/4th and step on it? see if the rpm's match, or jump? I doubt it is a misfire. could be a vaccuum hose leak, do you have a boost gauge?
I've got cruise control and the cruise I installed is very picky about maintaining the set speed. So, on these cool mornings like we've been having my car likes to bog and jump around like it is missing part of the time. So, I set the cruise and let the engine and cruise battle it out. If I give the engine a little gas or if the car is allowed to warm up some this all goes away. This is bad tuning on the part of Mitsubishi. Drivability is poor at low speeds. But since they all do it I'd say it is normal.
