Well I'm pretty sure my parents will pay for my Insurance.

car - 325 month
rent - 200 month (room with other ppl/split costs)
gas - 200 month
food/entertainment - 200 month

$925

I'm only making 800 because I'm not working fulltime. If I worked fulltime I would make around 1,000.

Life's short....get the evo you want and enjoy life!
If you want it bad enough you will make it work.
Everyday I drive my evo, it makes me want to work harder and buy more parts. Having an expensive car makes me appriciate the finer things in life....lol.
Although you might not be able to afford a new one, a used one is deffinatly in your grasp.

Only you would know what you can afford..
Insurance for my evo is 736.00 for 6 months full coverage through Esurance.com

Who said it will break? It might, but it also might not. I had an 03 evo that ran beautifully. Plus, at 100/month car payment, I think he could put a little money aside each month and fix things that may go wrong. I dont know what everyone is talking about maintenance costs, but an oil change is about 30 bucks (Mobil synthetic), you could get cheap tires if you wanted, you could get cheap pads if you wanted, spark plugs are 10 bucks, its not that expensive to me. Gas would be the biggest expense aside from the insurance, depending of course on your driving habits. He most likely cant afford it without any help, but it can be done.

Insurance is probably the biggest hidden cost. If you parents will take care of that it will help a lot but still not a good idea.

I would look at a car that costs around $15K if I were you. Put what you have down and get a $4-6K loan that you can definitely manage. You'd be suprised how many fun used cars you can find in this range. Just to to AutoTrader and search everything under $15K... you'll find a fun car. As you start making more money maybe you could get an Evo XII or something

Forget about if he can afford the car or not. He is 18-19 yrs old who has never owned a stick before let alone knows how to drive it properly.

NEVER GET THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though man....as far as a new one you ahvent even figured in the cost of the taxes and registering your car. Not to mention you are going to pay interest out of your ***. The car says 31K....after interest taxes and registering it is like 36K....now refigure out your payments......not worth it man....you will be spending all your time working for a car you have no free time to drive.

50 dollars on food and entertainment per week???? bahahahah dude even if u ate mcdonalds everyday I dont think that would work.
