Most for your money

What are some of the best things you can do power wise, for a good price?

TBE, reflash, intake, FMIC, LICP, boost controller, 10.5 hotside, TME turbo... Etc. All depends on what you want to do with the car (street car, autox, etc...). If your going street or autox then keep something like the stock turbo. Something quick spooling, so you'll have fun on the streets. As for just some basic power adders the above listed is a good start. Recommend checking out AMS or Buschur racings packages.

I would say Tune, mbc and exhaust. If you're planning on quick hp and would like to stay stock for a while getting a tune is your best bet. I'd go with an eflash but you'd need to get a taxtric cable also. It totals out to be around 140 or so for an eflash and cable, which should net anywhere from 10-30whp depending on your car.

If you're planning on doing a lot of mods I'd suggest doing all your mods first then getting a tune.

Also pple are going to say search!

I have to said a MBC ! for about $70-$150 you can actually feel your car is faster than before, I am pretty sure the full TBE can feel the same way, but it cost from $350-$1000 ! But the ECU tune is the key for driveability and reliability !!

350 WHP? Maybe on a dynojet.

TBE, MBC, and reflash is probably a good start if you are looking for the most bang for the bucks. If you have an 03,04 Evo, then the JDM MR DV to replace the plastic USDM DV to hold boost better. Next step would be 10.5 hotside if not already there. Finally, probably would be cams and adjustable cam gears. That will probabaly yield you the most horsepower for the least amount of money spent. Everything after that will be more expensive and not yield you nearly as much horsepower moving forward. If money is an issue and horsepower is all you are after, I would stop at this point (maybe even cut out the cams and cam gears if you are really low on funds). Best bet would be to save up for everything to be done at once so you don't have to get tuned more than once.

If I could ask more specifically, what are the best mods that won't void your warranty when you take the car to the dealer for service or warranty claims? For example, will a turbo back exhaust void the warranty? How about a manual boost controller?

Warranty varies so much between dealers, you should really just talk to the dealer in your area to see what there stance is on mods.

Honestly? If you are really worried about warranty, and with the way most dealerships are void happy with these cars, I wouldn't change anything at all. Just leave it stock and enjoy what the car has to offer now. This will give you a chance to really appreciate what you have now and fully know all the nuances and quirks you car has. Most people can't drive these cars 10/10 to it's abilities (myself included). You would be amazed at how much you can push this car in it's stock form. Once you modify it, it will be a completely new car that you'll have to learn all over again. Besides, if you spend the time to get to know your car for a while before you mod it, you'll know if any stange side effects that pop up were because of the new mods or not.

^This is good advice, especially for those with little or no training in high performance driving. I've been driving at non-competitive track events for the past five years so the skill level is there, but I want to be able to get warranty service if needed, especially considering how hard I push the car.

I agree that the Evo is a great car in stock form, but I'm always seeking to go faster, so some mods will be hard to resist. Without jacking this thread too far from its original purpose, I would like to hear from people who have modded their car and still were able to get warranty service from the dealer.
