new 03 evo owner

i have a few questions. i bought my first evo its on 03. it has a few mods like an hks turbo intake pipe with filter, bov, looks like a up graded front mount or atleast piping. and there is a cable coiled up in the engine bay looks like it might have went to some kinda of computer. well the car seems to have a turbo timer but thereaint one in the car and at high rpms some times the service liight will flash a couple of times but not very often. so what i want to know could the ecu be chipped or do they got like dsm link for it. cause i know when u have dsm link the check engine light flashes to let u know ur nocking. just confused thanks.

Yeah it knock. how much boost are you running. Did you check to see if it has the stock ECU box?

when you go to start the car does it take a few seconds? if so, or even if not, the SES light may have been configed to be a shift light. The couple seconds to start means it has an AEM EMS in it or similar. Pics of the "coiled wire" and the rest of the car can tell us what is done.

Check to see if you have the stock ECU. Pretty easy to get to, just take off the glove box and it'll be right on the left hand side.

Should have asked questions about the history before purchasing, because you could've gotten screwed.
