I don't know about the renting thing but when I went to autozone it was free and on there reader it tells you what the code means

 

if it comes down to it, just put ur stock paper air filter back in and go to ur dealership and play dumb...oh and dont leave any evidence of you ever installing an aftermarket filter...that way everything will be fine and they cant try to pull b.s on you about aftermarket parts

it could be since your now getting alot more airflow the computer is sensoring it causing a code to pop up, it may just need to be driven and have itself adjust..thats happened to me on a few pasrt cars after changing the intakes
