help plz i want evo..

hello every ! im new here and im really nedding your help with this. ok this might be long but plz read it for a allmost fellow evo owner. ok i have a srt-4 right now that runs 13.2 on sreet tires and a 12.9 with slicks. all i have for mods is fmic, wga, intake,mm and exhaust. i really want to get a evo and get rid of this pos. i have had so many problems with my tranny its almost funny. i do belive the motors in srt4s are strong but there trannys are crap and i want another car. i wanted a evo befor i got this car. it was just a money thing. but now that the dealer only wants me to put down 2000.00 for the evo and my credit is better i really want one. can you guys just tell me what you think of your cars, what is really the 0 to 60 for the evo 9, what they do stock with a good driver, and how good of a car are they. all of my friends have srt-4, and they tell me they will kill my evo if i get one. really is that true and i dont care what they think i like the evo better. all of my friends run lows 13s to mid 12s, so they have some mods. plz guys answer these ? cause i really want a evo.

as soon as you drive your car off the lot you will void your warranty just messing with you, but seriously the car has a 0-60 in the 4 sec range (stock) and on a evo 9 stock, you can get a 12.9 with a good driver. i think your friends are just jealous

if you are a good driver you will most likely take them stock, but all you would need is an MBC, exhaust, and flash and there will be no worries. they are a few good drivers that can do 11's with those few mods for $1300. IX's are beasts.

Your friends are just jealous of your new future car. Tell them to stick their "I'll take you from a roll" crap straight up their rearends. No real drag races are done from a roll. If they really **** you off, challenge them to a race on the track and laugh at them while they understeer straight into a wall. That's when you can ask "Where's your 'I'll take you from a roll' now?"

Your not going to be able to just drop the clutch on this evo like you can with a srt-4, too much torque on the drivetrain and you'll snap your transfer case to bits. There are solutions to that though if you want to have your tranfer case and tranny rebuilt by shep for insane power. The evo's drivetrain is tough just not invincible...

Making this car fast is more about smooth shifting and launching than it is brute force

If you want to race in a straight line, why not get a car better suited for that purpose? A Cobra comes to mind immediately. The Evo is a street legal rally car that was designed to balance acceleration, deceleration and cornering in order to get from point A to point B quickly and safely. It seems like the Evo's street cred is the driving force here and you may want to have a hard, honest look at your priorities and expectations before buying a fairly expensive car that won't necessarily fit your needs.

Don't count on the warranty, especially if you mod. If you have a lawyer on retainer I suppose you'd be ok, but Mitsubishi loves to void warranties at the drop of a hat.

Also, with AWD it's a lot easier to damage your transmission/drivetrain than with 2WD.
