If you remove the cat it will throw a CEL unless you fool the o2 sensor. So the answer is yes, it will.

To make life easier just pick up a Ultimate Racing Test Pipe for $80 bux, it's comes with a mechanical O2 sim for the IX. I been runnin this test pipe on my IX for approximately 5000 mile now with no CEL problem.

I have a IX/dc sport single can catback and a helix test pipe. The catback has o2 sensor bung/little pipe. As you know the IX has the o2 sensor in the cat.

I haven't had any cels with my setup. I'm going to go to back to the stock cat or something b/c the car is a little to loud now.
