Unhappy My Situation.....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@UPDATE@@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Thanks guys for all the great info, well, I got my Xmas bonus, an paid off a good majority of the dub, but here is the thing, my friend works at a local subaru dealer an is the finance manager come to find out. Well here it is.

04 STI white/gold Stock everything 24xxx miles
23,800 sticker/ no haggling
Bald tires, no strereo

or

06-07 WRX TR Pretty much base white, just turbo gauge 9 miles
23,999+TTL / no haggling

The GLI 19,500 owed still ...

now i no its not the evo, but I guess you guys are right, especially in hawaii, the money I can, an want to afford with insurance/mods/gas etc. puts me around 22-27k car . Thanks guys for the support.

Ok first off, just want to say hello, an being my first post on here.

06 Evolution lX MRSP $31,399 (Looking at)

Hawaii Mitsubishi $41,345

8k mark up, with some security package.

05 VW Jetta GLI $25,500 Pay off (My car)

Trade in $17,000

7,500k neg. equity

Total ~$49k + TTL

Um....yea so I have been wanting the evo since 03 an finally have my job that I have been waiting for, an been financially ready for my dream car. Now, I know its crazy, but I actually was ready to spend that much BUT, here is my offer and let me know what you guys think.

Told the dealer

#1 Pay off my car, all of it

$25,500=paid

I pay msrp for the car $42,598 otd an I was ready to go, but unfortune for me my credit suck, thats why I got my g/f to co-sign for me. The bank wouldn't extend that much, which I figured.

#2 Drop the mark up, an I eat my equity +$7,500

That makes the msrp alittle less, but reasonable.

Anyhow, they came at me with $5k down/ 719 for 72 months at 9.5%

How does that work out? What do I need to do, so I ended up telling them.

0 down/ 750 for 72 months at whatever rate. Being Im goin to refi. in about a year.

Well the girl, ended up coming out an saying that they tried to get me financed an got turned down, so before I could offer, and ask why I got turned down, they said the banks dont extend that much.

So I said "ofcouse!!!! 16k more than msrp " so I got mad, but left ok.

Sorry for the rant an long story but, guys, or if any dealerships out there are reading this, help me out. Should I try to buy somewhere else? thanks, guys an I hope next time I post, its how much I love the car an what mods to do next.

Thanks guys, an Aloha

jarrod

Welcome to the forum!!! About your situation...if you can get rid of your car somehow, then you can probably buy it from Southcoast Mitsu in CA and ship it to HI. This probably would still be cheaper than the markup price.... If you were willing to eat the cost of the negative equity, perhaps you can sell your car privately close to that price?

I agree and also try calling Southcoast and see what the shipping will cost you. I'm in NY and it would cost me $700.00 for 3000 miles.

Don't bury yourself in negitive equity.

Good luck!

VWs are a joke, it was made in Mexico. I own a nice 2002 VW passat GLX w/ the v6.... the person who designed this car is an idiot.

Get the evo from South Coasts, its like 1k to ship it from cali to hawaii according to someone i read that from in the past

its almost impossible to have a car and buy another without neg equity. I had a toyota (holds value very well) and still had about 600 tacked on

Well if you cant get one shipped from the lower 48 I would consider maybe buying an 03-05 VIII thats already in Hawaii and work on geting your credit better and bills paid off. You'll still have an Evo and it will be in a better price range for you at this time in your life. Good luck in whichever decision you make.

+1 to everyone that mentioned South Coast. If you look here, you can use the shipping quote site south coast gives you.

Don't spend all your money on payments, you'll have nothing left to live on.

I'd pay down the VW for a year and then revisit the Evo situation. With payments in the $700~ range, you'll have to be making a lot to be able to afford this car.
