Maybe try getting better gauges?

My Defis are much easier to read. I never knew I hit 1.4 until I got an aftermarket boost gauge haha.

Those stock ones are tiny

my stock IX would do the same, it would go 1.2 kg/cm to .9 or 1.0 at redline
the original gauges are in bar (kg/cm2)

i'll throw this out there one more time since it was kind of ignored-do a boost leak test. you're boosting less than a stock evo should and just because it's stock doesn't mean there is no leak.

so you're covering up your leak in the piping system by turning up the boost with an MBC? you should always perform a leak test prior to a tune.

i just installed a catback on my stock ix and now it will spike to about 21-22psi sooommetimes usually 17psi and immediatley drop off to about 15 and when it drops off you definatley feel the whole car jerk....i did a leak test and found nothing are there anyother boosting problems besides leaks?

is the snorkel to your airbox fastened down securely? sometimes it'll suck to the hood and cause a jerk/drop-off in boost if not secured.

do you have a tune? you could be hitting fuel cut if not.

fuel cut can happen at any rpm that your under full boost. get a tune for sure, i think you're hitting fuel cut.
