Works drop in or K&N?

Does anybody have experience with both of these? I've heard good things about both, and Works claims that their filter is superior to the K&N, but it's also over twice the price. Is it work the difference in cost? Also, if I'm looking at tuning the car anyway, is there any advantage to a short ram or cold air as opposed to the drop in (besides the sound)?

K&N, I don't think you'll get that much more power with the Works even though they claim that they have a bigger filtration area. The works filter is $130 right, if you're planning getting a drop that expensive, might as well the the RALLIART drop in filter.

How does the RALLIART stack up against the works and K&N?

I got the ralliart & honestly I like the WORKS drop in better..There's not much difference between the two, but the extra benefit of theWORKS drop in is that you can hear a nice psssssh from you DV..

That I didn't know. Maybe because the RALLIART is made of foam and it's thick were as the Works has thin layer of paper like the K&N so that's why you and hear the pshhhhh better from the DV.

But $130 for a drop in filter, you can get a HKS, Apexi or a lot of other cone filter for that much.

Here are some other options as far as washable, oiled, pleated cotton gauze, dropin type filters are concerned. B.M.C. makes a panel filter for the Evo, which is much used throughout Europe. In addition, Green Filters as well as Afe, are both American companies that, I think, make filters for our application.

There is another company, I.T.G., a British firm, which makes foam filters, and I think that they happen to have a dropin for our cars.

if you want to have a dropp in and sound, around $130
get a Blitz net for the facory intake box and K&N dropp in filter.

Just do some searching on here, and form your own opinion. That is what I did and bought the WORKS drop in as my first mod. Been loving it ever since! WORKS sells some high quality stuff, and yes they are expensive.

I basically wanna keep the stock intake box because I don't want to lose the cold air system. I've been thinking about cutting a hole in the side like John did. I have already done a bunch of research on here and that's how I came to the conclusion to use the stock box as opposed to a short ram system. I was just curious as to what the differences were between the drop-in filters. Performance is most important to me, but a louder filter would be nice too. However, at $60 if there isn't much difference between the K&N and the others, I think I'm gonna go with the K&N. But if the Works is noticeable louder than the K&N, that would be a factor...

Yes it is...it draws air from the front of the car near the radiator. You take the lid off and all of the sudden you'll get lots of hot air from the engine.
