Picking up my Evo IX

I've done a search and found some information on proper engine break-in. However, for my situation, I am purchasing the car from L.A. and driving 373 miles to home in Norcal. My concern is that I will be driving on the highway for 5 hours and at a stagnant rpm. I've seen some posts where the car was previously broken in on a dyno before a long drive. Just wondering if this is what i should do, or is driving on the highway a good way to break in the engine? The only downfall is that it would be difficult to vary the rpm's. If anyone can advise, please do. Thanks in advance.

Mike

Well mike what you could do is vary the gears, cruise around in 3rd and 4th for a while, give it some load. Maybe try slowing down and doing a few mid throttle pulls back up to speed.

I went through the same thing, I bought my car in Tallahassee, FL, and had to drive to Biloxi, MS that very night 280 miles.. Needless to say it was a long drive, I kept the car between 55-60mph. Unfortunately I couldn't vary the rpms that much.. I just got off at some of the rest areas, to let it cool off for about 10mins a piece. Haven’t had any problems since…. Not saying that’s the right way to go about it, but that’s what I did.
