Question Downpipe Questions :: Ceramic Coating or Not?

I have a couple of questions in regards to downpipes. I want to install an electronic cutout on whatever 3" downpipe I purchase, but I need to know if it's best to buy one that is ceramic coated. I drive an Evo IX MR and I keep hearing that the radiant heat from larger downpipes is an issue with the transfer case, ACD unit and oil pan. Is this really an issue? Also, is it necessary to buy a new o2 housing in addition to the downpipe or can I simply use the stock one?

The downpipe I have in mind is the 76mm WORKS Exhale DP. Is there a better one out there that will bolt directly onto the stock exhaust components and clear the stock lower tie bars?

Thanks in advance!

I don't see how there would be more radiant heat with a ceramic coated DP. The ceramic coating is supposed to keep the heat locked within the pipe itself to keep the air hot and free flowing. I've seen ceramic coated tubular turbo manifolds that are significantly cooler than a manifold that is not.

You can use the stock O2 with your new DP but might as well get it to really provide extra breathing room for the exhaust side.

Bump, I had a question on this too. I plan on buying a Buschur Racing 3" downpipe and was wondering whether it would be worth while to have it ceramic coated to decrease temp in the engine bay and surrounding area or whether this would be a waste of my time and money. Thanks.
