Can anyone tell me what, if any, of the models are equipped with side airbags (standard or optional)? I have gotten conflicting info on this and hopefully this thread can settle this.

There are no side airbags. Where in the world would you get conflicting reports on that???

RS is getting a lotta love on this thread. Gotta love it.

For a daily driver, you will start to miss some power features...

looks wise i like the evo VI... its just soo nice... but driving wise ive only driven the 8&9 and i can say the 9 is def better on the low end torque but no matter what evo you get, that 4g63 motor will put a nice little grin on your face

For die hard racers or budget minded modders the RS is the best option. It is closer to an MR than the GSR model. Only the RS and MR are available with Aluminum roof panel. What's missing? Bilstein struts, 6 speed, badging, MR wheels. sport pedals, HID headlights, brake wind deflectors, power windows, and the Wing.

The GSR, the heaviest Evo, available with a more powerful stereo and optional leather interior and a sunroof.

the MR has the aluminum roof, 6 speed, BBS forged wheels, Bilstein suspension, and HIDs. It rides the smoothest and costs the most.

Overall I agree the RS is the best bargain, especially if you are going to change suspension components and the wheels. The GSR cannot be outfitted with the aluminum roof panel and the RS and MR cannot get a sunroof or leather. The alcantra interior which is standard equipment is the way to go, leather is slippery. The 6 speed hits some limitations above 500hp from what I understand. Modded 5 speed cars trap higher 1/4 mile times because Evo's finish the 1/4 in 4th and the 5 speed's 4th gear is taller.
