Which Tires?
Which Tires?
I've been doing a little reading on which tires i needed to purchase, I really want tires that are great at griping ( close to the stock advans or prefer better) but I also want tires that will last me alittle longer atleast 20k, my goal for the car is to be an handling machine, so going to be doing some suspension work soon, but right now the car is stock other than ( boost gauge and boost controller) I'll pay alittle more for grip, but just hate the facts that my advans ran out at 7500 miles, and bought pre-owned ones with alittle tread life left and those ran out at 15000,looking for some guidence on which tires to get. If you could please let me know what kind and how much a tire.
I've heard that 255/40/17 are the best way to go for grip
thanks
and if anyone has any pictures of how the 255's look on stock rims

well thats not going to happen with stock set up. i would have to pick pirelli pnero zero m&s or falken 512's. both last for a while and provide great grip.
I have been running the BFG g-force T/A KDW NT for a while (not sure how many miles, but around 10k) and still have tons of tread. They have a 35k warranty.
These are SOLID tires with great grip dry and wet, no noticeable rolling around corners. I'm running 235/40/18. Not cheap, but very worth it in my opinion.
I also use the BFG g-force T/A KDWS for winter driving.

I've had Kuhmo MX 235 35 17's on my evo for about 14000 miles when i purchased the it. They're awesome in wet and dry, but awful in snow. Not loud at all either. I just purchased a new set of four for this summer. Also only cost about $108 dollars each on tre rack. Definetly 4 out of 5 stars all around. Most of the guys i know who drive evo's perfer these.
There is a whole section on EvoM that discusses various tires.

I'm running Advan Sport right now and I think I've found my tire (review in parts review). Its a little quieter and softer than the A046's but it grips great and has a little higher treadware rating - we'll see how long they last. Perfect daily driver tire for me I think.. I only have 500 miles on them.
Tires that are often recommended for replacements.
Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 in 245/40R17
Yokohama Advan Sport
Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position
Falken Azenis RT-615

I don't think you can have the best of both worlds (really grippy/long lasting). However going with a cheaper tire such as the azenis rt-615 will allow you to replace them without making a huge dent in your wallet everytime the time comes to replace the tires.
