Easy to Learn to Drive?

Hey guys, new to the forum....Just wondering....I'm thinking about gettin an evo soon..but my question is this...how much of a difference is there in learning to drive a stick with awd...my only experience with a manual trans is driving a F-150 around at work... Thanks..don't rip me a new one...

its pretty easy. Just dont start off by launching the car. Wait until you get used to the clutch and have done the proper break in period for the clutch. Other than that it shouldnt be that much different.

Yea, and don't try downshifting until your use to the clutch also.

I came from another manual AWD turbo Mitsubishi and transitioning to the Evo still gave me some problems. Then I used my poor Evo in an effort to teach my wife to drive a stick. That went so poorly she was refusing to get behind the wheel again.

So, I'd suggest it is not that easy. I'd also add that if you get to the point where you are shifting smoothly you are probably over using the clutch, a big wear item in a AWD car. For extended clutch life it is better have you shifts be a little harsh. Minimize the time your foot is on the pedal.

Wasn't a probem for me. I was just caught by surprise when I was pulling into traffic and lauched it. Wasn't used to it. Like any car, give it a couple days and you'll be fine.

I went from a manual s10 to the Evo. I still have a little trouble getting smooth shifts every once in awhile.

Just give it like an hour of driving you'll be fine... Went test driving second cars for my mom and little sister yesterday. We drove a few different cars but most were automatic, one was a Boxster S and it took a little bit to get used to it. Every car is different, regardless of AWDness, just launching an AWD means a good chance of burning your clutch fast.

Not a problem here either and I went to a right hand drive (JDM EVO) and had to shift with my left. You should be fine IMO

its not very difficult. youll get use to it very quickly, and remember the turning radius isnt all that great. its only a car, cant be much harder then other cars.

I was taught on an STi...that went fairly well. Actually, the first couple of times was kinda difficult but it's not that bad. Take it slow though.
