Gtech Pro vs Real Time Dyno... ANYONE?

Just wondering if anyone out there has actually compared their Gtech Pro performance meter with actual DYNO results. I have the meter and while it IS good for seeing results from bolt ons and such i was wondering if the HORSEPOWER/TORQUE was similar or close to anyone out there that has one AND got dynoed. For instance the meter is telling me after a run for determining Horsepower/Torque that my car is putting out 245Hp; but this is at the WHEELS. So i know the crank HP should be considerably more. Anyone compare these results?? I appreciate the input.

I too have a gtech pro and in the instructions that come with it the maker describes the differences you might see... It's a good read.

With those mods you would put more than 254 at the wheels. I have better luck logging a run with Data Log Labs.

On no dyno will a Evo IX w/ your mods ever make only 245 whp... So you know just from that, it's a bit low.

I can't help beyond that.

Ummmmmmmm it isnt his tune, its the gtech meter. Just go to the dyno to see what you really are making.
If you go to the track and run the 1/4 you could get a good estimate at your power by your trap speed.

Get a tactrix cable and do some logging with your laptop using the Evoscan software. It has a built in dyno that is within .5 whp of my friends car. Seems to be *very* accurate!

Wow. I have the cable and the software but i didnt know it had a built in dyno, i have to check it out...and i appreciate the replies but i think alot of you misunderstood me the HP reading i listed was for REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER NOT CRANK. So i would think its pretty easy to lose 50+ HP from the crank to the wheels. No?

I know on a mustang dyno most stock Evo's read at about 230 whp, so thats about a 50whp drop from the crank to the wheels. Evoscan's dyno (estimates your acceleration based on what gear you are in, and how fast your RPMS climb, then extrapolates a whp figure) is very accurate, it has been dead on with every dyno run of my friends IX. I'm not so sure about Evoscan's torque estimation though...that figure seemed a little off compared to real world dyno's...

Yeah, we realize that its wheel, we also realize that most of us are in america and no one cares what your car makes at the flywheel. Therefore, 245 wheel is stock dyno numbers, you should be around 330 wheel.

OK......lets see...im in America...I actually speak English too..ANYWAY... after i checked the Gtech manual again, the HP figures it gives you is NET horsepower which says is EVEN lower than WHEEL horsepower, taking into the fact for all driveline loss; i.e. wind drag etc. Also i checked the figures with the simulated DYNO on EVOSCAN and it was REALLY REALLY close within 1-2 HP. NICE And it should matter what your car might make at the crank B/C most Manufacturers show HP readings from that location. But of course you'd want to know what its kickin from the wheels...im just saying thats all.

I used to have a G-tech pro RR.

I dynoed my VIII at full function on a mustang dyno. The number were 233TQ/232HP.

Dynoed it on the Gtech after setting it up according to the manual. The numbers 235TQ/223HP.

Pretty close, and it was very consistent.
