EVO Count for 2006?
EVO Count for 2006?
I was just curious if anyone knew build number facts. I read in several Car Magazines that Mitsubishi sends out approx. 3,000 Evos and 1,000 MR's to the USA. I have read that in a couple of rags, does that seem realistic? If so, these cars are more rare than I thought..and I like that!!!

This is all I was able to find after about an hour of searching and its not very descriptive:
http://media.mitsubishi-motors.com/p...etail1228.html
down near the bottom it gives the "sales target" of 5,000 units.

Thaks for the searching you did. Yes, I believe the USA spec MR is a GSR elsewhere, and the GT is our base. The RS is the RS everywhere I believe. I know this is a limited produtction car. I feel Mits is trying to capitalize on the Evolution fame here in the USA and build other models of it. I feel the new X will be great no doubt, but feel it will lose some luster. I don't think its going to be a rally machine that previous models are. They are going after more sales than prestige IMO. Our cars now, I feel will be the collectors items one day. I have read in magazines that 1000 MR's a year, and 3000 EVO's (all other models combined) are shipped to the USA. I am sure that changes with supply and demand, but I feel that Mits never built this car as a money maker. Its just a car they built so they could race. I feel the X is not going to be in this fasion. I feel they are looking at a money maker, and not a novelty car that ours is. So take care of the one you have, you may not be able to replace it in years to come......

No, I don't think that is correct! In 05 the MR was limited in production to around 1000 or so, but nobody has found the accurate number yet
In 06 they were not limited, since there was no MR over in Japan. The MR was just a USDM thing.

and my best guess is that they sold around 325-350 EVO IXs a month so about 3900 to 4200 EVO IXs.So the car is rare indeed. This also was very dramatic increase from 2005. In 2005 my best guess is that they sold around 200-225 EVO VIIIs a month or 2400 to 2700 05 EVO VIIIs.
Still pales in comparison to 2003 when sales were around 475-500 EVOs, but the EVO was brand new so it was expected to hit numbers that high. The EVO IX was in my opinion a complete success for the EVO model, and honestly I believe the 2006 EVO IX out sold the 06 STI by a good margin. My best guess is that 2006 sales for the STI were down, and they sold about 275-300 of those a month or 3300 to 3600 total. Like I said I researched this a lot and the best I can give you is an educated guess. If somebody can come up with an exact figure please share

in a few years we'll start holding the value much better. Once production actually stops and dealers run out of them. The dealer near my house keeps finding them, i dont understand how.
When they run out of them, then we can start asking more for our cars. Its hard to ask for more money when you can still get a brand new ix for 28-29k.
As for you younger guys, keep crashing them. Make my car rare!

. I wouldn't be surprised if total sales for the EVO IX model is actually closer to 5,000 units. I guess the EVO IX was selling so well in comparison to 2005 and 2004 they keep finding a way to send more here. Still with that said, the EVO is still what I would consider a rare car, unless you live in California
I hear you, and I find Mitsubishi to be a very confusing company. They set a sales and production target of say 4,000 EVOs for North America and they sell 4,000 EVOs, yet there are still EVOs for sale

There are probably still 1000 out there for sale...
well checking the chassis code in my car it was the 11,280 CT9A Chassis in 2006. I do not know if that included normal Lancers or not but that is one thing that makes the 5000 build number questionable. Maybe 5K per market?
