So here's my dilema, I have an 05 and i want to upgrade the turbo on it. I was wondering say with the same turbo upgrade say a 50 trim and mods will the VIII make as much power as the IX or will the IX make more power because of MIVEC. So should I upgrade my VIII or get an IX

the 9 might make a little more power than an 8 with the same big turbo setup, but with the money you would spend on the trade in, I can't possibly see it being a logical idea.

your 8 can make all the power you could ever need when you start to consider big turbo setups.

 

eggsactly. Keep the 8. the money you would lose on selling your car and buying a new one would not be worth it. Now if you had an 03 without the acd and such then it might make a little bit more sense. But since you have an 05 there is no question, definitely stick with your current car.

 

keep the 8 and upgrade the turbo, remember new models will always be faster.

 

Definately keep your VIII. There is very little difference once you start upgrading the turbo, plus your car has a nice long 4th gear already, perfect for a big turbo. The 9 4th gear is just too damn short. I am probably looking into a 50 trim too, and I will be "upgrading" to an VIII 4th gear most likely. I miss my old VIII forth gear..

Mivec is nice, and will make more power compare to 8. But I don't think it's worth extra $$$ and hassle of buying/selling.
