Overboosting?

I have a friend that just got a 06 MR SE, he has only done TBE and intake and boost controller. He keeps turning up his boost all the time and it has gotten to the point now that his BOV stay open when he turns up the boost and it started cutting out at certain points. This is overboosting right? or does he just needa fuel pump and a new bov?

Huh? The BOV's operation is not related to your friend turning up the boost. Why is he continually turning up the boost? If it's "cutting out," then it's probably hitting fuel cut, since he's not tuned. He's probably lucky the engine hasn't blown yet. If he keeps doing this, the engine probably WILL blow. No, he does not need a new BOV, but yes he does need a fuel pump upgrade if he's running crazy high boost.

well just for an example, a friend of mine has a ws6 that made around 430 to the wheels at a different elevation, they raced and the guy with the evo stayed right next to him and only getting pulled away from around 110 mph... Possible hes running 30lbs of boost?

What brands of intake and boost controller did your buddy install on his IX? Since he keeps turning the boost up, exactly how many pounds of boost is he running? When you say that his BOV is staying open, what do you mean? How do you know for a fact the his BOV is staying open? Do you mean that his wastegate is opening and not his BOV?

Stating that your friend raced another car that was 430hp really does not tell us anything. EVO's are extremely fast cars stock and from a dig would most likely take a 400+ hp FR or RR car anyday! We need more specifics if we are to help you out.

PSI?
Which MBC?
How are you reading boost? Etc. Etc. Etc.
