Just got back from the state ref..

I just got back from the state ref for citation for modified emissions with some obd fault codes.

P0172 System Too rich
P0102 MAF or VAF CKT Low imput
P0113 IAT CKT high imput
P2228 Manufacturer specific codes

So I took my car to Veracom Mitsu in Burlingame CA to get the 30k service and get that 5th grind checked out. I got a phone call the day after saying the 30k is done but with the 5th gear, they noticed the oil that came out was a little thick.

The guy I was talking to said " you can take it and drive it around see if it goes away or let us tear it down and look" (price is 1800 for teardown) so I ask what if I give the go for the tear down and he says what they will do is tear it down and get the mitsu rep to come look and decide to void me or grant the fix. I ased what I should do and he told me if the mitsu rep saw your car with all the mods he will say void. All I have on there is the koyo, greddy intercooler, and catback. (I dont have stock parts to change back)

So please help me decide where to go from here. My car is still at the dealer. I am just scared to go with the tear down and get my car void and have to pay 1800.

Thanks ahead of time.

Only way I'd even let them tear it down, is if I know for sure I don't mind paying them to fix it.

Post on Norcal evo and see if anyone have stock parts to loan or sell you for cheap, then bring it to another dealership and have it warrantied.

You would think that bring your Evo to a Mitsu dealership is a good idea. However in reality, Mitsubishi dealerships are awry with technicians that are extremely incompetent. Go to a local DSM/Evo speedshop, you will receive much better service this way (probably a lot cheaper too).
