Evo Moddification Question

I am planning on getting the AMS Stage 1 kit for my Evo IX MR. Their site says you go from 286 hp to about 345-365 on 93 octane. That seems a little to high for intake exhaust and fuel pump w/ tunning. How much hp do you other Evo drivers have with basic intake exhaust w/ tunning have?

Just curious, where did you get that estimate from? I didn't see it on their website...

FWIW, AMS generally doesn't make claims that they can't back up. Looks like they are quoting crank hp (bhp) figures, not whp, though.

Bottom line is that you should see a significant gain in power from a stage 1 upgrade on your IX. People like me, who have had to build up a VIII are jealous ...

i made 292awhp with an Ams stage 1 TBE, high flow cat, K&n cone filter and a custom flash. I asked for a conservative tune. I'm not about squeezing every last HP number out of my motor though.
Some guys dyno more on the stage 1, others less. It depends roughly on the car and how you want AMS to tune your car.

most stage 1 packages with a tune can put you at 350-360WHP on a dynojet

i make 329WHP on stage 1 on a lower reading DD dyno

That's crank HP, which is not a useful number. You should only worry about WHP, which is measured on the dyno and can be proven. Any IX will make huge gains on a basic exhaust, mbc, and flash. The intake and fuel pump are peripherals - it's the tbe/mbc/flash that really make the power.

Just make sure that whatever stg1 you get has a full 3" tbe, mbc, boost gauge, and flash.

That made no sense, so he typed "what????" You just now went and changed it, then acted like you didn't know what he was talking about. Lame. Even what you changed it to has very poor grammar and doesn't read well due to not having punctuation.

I say those #'s will be easy to reach on an AMS stage 1 I hit 332 on a mustang dyno with only a tune, MBC and a TBE. A tune will tell, good luck!
