Greetings All! My Feedback on mods and next steps....

Well, I just started posting so that makes me a newbie. I've had my IX for a year now and I absoultely love the EVO despite Fast&F comments from friends and family. Been surfing this site since day 1. Used to have a GTI and was a regular at vwvortex.com. Love my car.

So here is some feedback for fellow newbies. I started out with a 3" DP and HFC from Perrin. Both were easy to install, no rattles, no CELs, and no clearance problems. The gains from the DP and HFC were minimal but I saw these mods necessary to unleash future potential.

Next step was 3" Catback and K&N drop in. An intake is probably a waste of money (for me) as the stock box is pretty good on these cars. Again, not a major gain, (not by the butt dyno at least)

The next step for me is a mail in Flash. I will be sending my ECU to Vishnu for a reflash listing my current mods.

The combination of Flash, TBE, and drop in filter should provide good power and keep me happy. I'm not really into drag racing so this should more than suffice for the twisties.

After the flash, its on to suspension mods. Upgrade the rear sway bar, end links, and undercarriage braces. The rear end currently rolls a bit more than I like in the twisties and hoping to correct with these suspension mods.

Thats about all I have planned performance wise. After that I will probably think about turbo timer, guages, stereo. As for turbo timers, you can avoid this expense initially and simply idle your car for a couple minutes after hard runs. Hope this helps others decide what to mod next.
