Injectors and Cams

I am looking to upgrade my cams to the HKS 280's and I have heard that you can get away with keeping you stock injectors. Is this true? My parts list is on a tight budget, and I assume I other than the intake and exhaust cam I will need:

new cam gears
timing belt
apr head bolts
head gasket

I am wondering if I can get away with not replacing the fuel rail and injectors right now. I plan to, but tight budget right now. Any suggestions?

You will be fine with your stock injectors. Dont even think of chaning the rail unless you plan on running a rediculous amount of HP.

I had HKS 280's and they idled quite well.

Good luck.

Just curious... Why is a timing belt, cam gears, and head gasket on your list of mods?

i figured that I should replace the timing belt, while I was in there. Since I wanted to put the ARP head bolts in there I figured I would need a new head gasket. If this is not a need let me know so I can save this money for another day.

If it worked for you then, I'm sure it will work for me. Thanks for the advice.

You dont need injectors until you upgrade the turbo. You should have a walbro with a VIII though.

The stock injectors should still suffice with just those light mods but keep on eye on DC just in case.

There is no NEED to do some of those things but you can while you are in there. Stock cam gears are fine unless you are looking for some bling.

how many miles are on your evo? that will answer your question if its time to do the timing belt. if you do change out the timing belt i would change out the water pump as well. as for the hks 280's you will not need the apr headbolts, fuel injectors, fuel rail, or cam gears.if you arent running crazy boost and your injector duty cycle is within spec
