Question Stupid question

Hey, I'm new here btw, hello!

Anyway, I was just wondering how you tell the difference between an Lancer Evo and a normal Lancer?
Especially the Evo 1 and 2 with the sixth generation lancers, which also come out in GSR.

I understand why you are asking the question. In Hong Kong, there are tons of base Lancer (99% of them auto) that tries to disguise themselves as EVOs. Mostly IV-VI since I don't think we have gotten I-III officially and it is just too costly to mimic VII-IX. Since you're in NZ, I'm sure there are a lot of fake I-III as well as the IV-VI. The most common changes they make are ofcourse the wing, the hood and the bumper.

Outlook:

First thing to look, shifter - Most immitators run on auto.

Exhaust - most of immitators do put on some fart cannons that look big but sometimes they have the puny 1" stockers.

Rims - Aftermarket or not, a lot of the immitators run on 14"-15" rims due to fitment.

Fenders - EVO's from what I know come with bulging fenders for front and rear from at least V. I'm not sure about I-IV but this is usually where immitators don't spend money on. Would be even more noticable if their fake bumper and their stock fender don't really align too well.

Seats - If it has the stock folding Recaros (although RS have it only as option), most likely it is EVO since they're worth getting full bucket seats for the same price. It is easy to spot that they are not real if they have some no-name folding seats with sporty look (bolsters, holes for harness etc)

Behavior:

See if the car is fast or not. There is a huge difference in performance.

If the car shifts instantly and at a low to mid rev, most likely its an auto.

Turbo spool sound and/or bov. They may have some aftermarket bolt on turbo kit, but very unlikely.

Lol thanks for the help, but yeah there are heaps of lancers here trying to pull off the evo look, and I was just wondering how to identify it easily.
