Is the MIVEC worth the extra money for a 9? I test drove the Evo8 today (finally) and there was an Evo9 there, so I drove that one too. Now I can't decide which on I like the best.

 

definately the 9 if you can afford the extra cost

 

^^^ dont lestin, it depends what you want out of it if you just want 340whp with low cost buy the 9, if you are modding the car buy the 8

 

Which one cost the least to maintain?

 

They should be fairly the same, or at least similar enough for the difference to be negligible. However, I recall reading that some of the updates to the IX's engine slightly reduced oil consumption, but it's nothing drastic.

 

I'm an active duty Marine, so I'm don't paid a whole lot. Is the MIVEC worth saving for. Or should I get the 8 for much less. I have the money for an 8 now.

 

i woiuld definatly say the ix. look at all the threads about the ix's. an 8 with bolt ons adn cams will make the same as a ix with just bolt ons. ix's are going 11s with minor bolt ons and a tune.

the 9 is always gonna make more power but its really up to you what you want if you like the 9 interior or anything more then go for it other wise get the 8 and spend that money you saved on mods or paying other stuff

Is there a difference between the rim size of the 8 and 9? Are they both 17's

 

The rim sizes are exactly the same. The BBS wheels are identical (minus the color for the SE) for the VIIIs and IXs, but the IX's Enkeis are a tad lighter than the VIII's.

 

Anyone have a video where you can hear the MIVEC kicking in? I'm guessing it essentially sounds like a V-TECH.
