buying used cams
My tuner suggested I get adjustable cam gears. You can move the power band and adjust the cams so it will not idle to rough. I would get a tuner to install them. I hear lots of bad stories with guys putting cams in with buddies and get a loud ticking or bend their valves. You will need a tune after also. Just throw them in and don't look back.

+10000 i totally agree with this, having an adjustable gear is wonderful. You can slightly move the gear and adjust the power band. You can get the best performance from the mid range to the high end where they really stretch their legs, You will notice a huge difference in your car on the track, And if your going to do the cams while you have it torn apart you should really do springs at least, this way you can up your RPM's. It will really help your trap speeds. When you look at your dyno graph where you normal start to fall off with stock cams you hold your power all the way passed it. Go get a pro that has done the install time and time again, Dont short yourself by trying to save a buck and doing it yourself. wait a little longer and save the money to have a good tuner install and then tune the setup. You will thank yourself later. Good Luck.
