always wondered, maybe obvious

i was wondering if there is any way that my insurance company can cover any aftermarket parts on my car. my car hasnt been stolen or anything, but cars get jacked left and right over here and ive spent too much on my car to give it to some douche or a junkyard. i would think maybe with receipts of somethin but i dont have any of em. Maybe an official quote or appraisal i dont know, this is a stretch. ya i could call my insurance company but too lazy and id rather read it here. what do ya guys think?

I don't know who your insurance company is but you may want to look into what is known as agreed value coverage. I believe this is where you and a rep from your insurance company look at your car and everything you have done to it and assign a value that way in the event of a total loss (theft, fire, etc) you have already agreed on the amount to be covered. You may have to look around for a company that will even do this for you.

yes most insurance companies offer coverage on "customized" parts, you will have to call your company to see what the details are to get your coverage started

All insurance company's are different as far as what the will cover. I would suggest contacting your insurance company.

You could also try these companys.

Call your insurance company and send them receipts for your parts and tell them you want them covered. Generally the premium is a bit higher, but well worth it in the event it actually gets stolen or wrecked.

I have progressive and yes they will cover aftermarket parts. You might want to call your insurance company and find out.

My '69 Chevelle is nothing but aftermarket parts so I have been thinking about having it appraised and then insuring it for the amount of the apraisal. Maybe you might want to have your Evo appraised and see if your insurance company will insure it for what its appraised at. If I go mod crazy on my Evo I will probably do it for that car as well. You would need to check and see if your insurance will do this as not all of them do.
