Hey guys, need some help!
Alright heres the deal, I was checking out a few Evos today because I plan on buying one soon. Well im in the Evo noob section for a reason, because i really dont know that much about how some parts actually work. Well I would just like to know what do i look for under a hood when im lookin at an Evos engine bay. I was actually wondering if someone could post a pic of an engine bay of an Evo and point out specific areas to look. Yes i have seen other theads about what to look for, but nothing with a picture edited by someone. I know a little about some of the parts, but something much more specific im sure would help me, and others out. Thanks alot!

i made the mistake of not checking the car out on a lift when i bought it. the car ran nice and seemed great but was in an accident that wasnt reported and scraped the whole bottom of the car, some things were replaced, others you can see damage, Nothing major but i wish i had found a lift to put it on.
check the underbody for no scraped damages parts and look for all stock mitsu parts, not cheap afermarket ebay stuff... make sure there is no rust from floods since that seems to be a problem now... all evo's are beat on so good luck finding an old lady or man that drove it like a cadillac. lol .
Check the fluids in the car asap.... before you buy. see if theres any discoloration in tranny fluid or metal coming out. Check motor oil making sure that the car has been being kept up to date..
Also Mitsu has mandatory services for 30,000 miles and 60,000 miles to change all sorts of belts and balancers and things. The service through mitsu cost over $1000 so ask if the cars had that. you dont want one thats had that service skipped over and now you left paying for it right away.
The more stock it is the better f your not sure. Any mitsu dealer would give you a full in depth look at a car you bring them for $8o i believe. Its worth every penny.

Thats all good stuff. Thanks. Luckily when i was looking for an evo (im lookin for an evo 9) I was actually able to find one at a
dealership around me. I test drove the car and when i asked the dealer what was done to the car and why it was traded in ( the car was beautiful, i dont know why anyone would trade it in.) He said nothing was done to it but a stage 2 clutch and a stupid aftermarket radio. Anyhow after looking under the hood i see a Greddy Blowoff valve which makes me belive there probably is more done to the car. Stupid dealers, always think the person looking at the car is stupid. Or they are misinformed themselves.
