Honestly the Evo is a great car even if its your first, its all up to the driver on how you wants to drive it. Good luck!

Couldn't of said it better myself. As a proud new owner of a Evo IX, I hope you get one As for many young fellas that I knew who were able to get an Evo at 17-18, wrecked them. When you're inexperienced and feel comfortable with the car is when you're the most dangerous.
Good luck, drive safe

Wouldn't you actually have to own a Suby first to transfer from it?

and there is no way in hell a 15 year old can handle a car like an Evo as their first. They have no driving experience, and are stupid and impressionable by their friends. The Evo has crazy limits, so you are pretty much guaranteed to die if you cross them.

The only way my son would get a car like this would be if he was Louis Hamilton.

I transferred from likeing them, not having one. I am actually a very responsible kid and i would never do anything too crazy to kill myself (unless im feeling kinda EMO :LOL). I get good grades and everything- i definately think i deserve the car that i want. Im even a top student in my class (class of 2011) right now. Also, ive tried driving my moms 96 200sx and im actually a decent driver so far- i havent even taken drivers ed yet.

Not to be a dick, you're 15, don't have your license and planning to get your Evo after HS/College? That's insane, don't even think about Evos at your age. You'll get into an accident instantly, there's somethings that you have to be aware about driving a 300+HP car.

You know how to drive stick?
Have you had experience driving rush hour times?
The Evo is a gas guzzler, so once your parents stop nurturing you, it's going to hurt the wallet, also the maintenance.
If you get your GSX, it's equally dangerous, AWD Turbocharged DSM as a first car, sick.

I suggest getting a beater Civic to gain more experience in certain situations bro, good luck!

My best advice to you is to NOT start out with an Evo. Get that Eclipse first. The Evo is a lot of car, especially for inexperienced drivers. It's a lot of car for even some of the best drivers. It can easily get away from you while you're driving and you need to be on top of it.

I also advise reading everything you can about the evo. The more you know about the mechanics of the car, the better the car will work for you. Read about maintenance too... there is nothing more frustrating than losing a transfer case cause of not using proper fluid / maintenance.

Half of the fun is knowing about them. Have fun and most importantly no matter what

DRIVE SAFE!!!

to each his own but personally i wouldn't get the evo at your age or you know what i worded that wrong, wait until you have several years of driving experience then you can get it, an evo is so much car... good luck though

some of you people need to stop ragging on this kid for wanting an evo. hes 15 he can have dreams. and not everyone who is young is a horrible driver. im only 19 and i drive an evo. i dont drive it irresponsibly at all. maybe its because i pay for every penny of my car and i dont want anything bad to happen to the car. granted yes having an evo as your first car is not a smart move but he can still think of owning one in the future. hes obviously on this site to learn more about the car and get opinions from people about the car, and not to say hes going to drive on the second he gets his liscence
