Question about Stock BOV

Hi

i got my evo IX few months ago and it is still stock.

(yeah, i'm poor)

i didn't know before, but my friends said turbocharged cars have blow off valves

that make some strange noises.

I don't remember hearing any noise except the whistling sound of turbocharger

and engine roaring.

do you think there's something wrong with my bov?

or is it because it's a stock bov?

Its perfectly fine. There is no issue's with it. If you want the noise change your intake filter from the box to a cone filter.

P.S. Dont listen to your friends when it comes to the evo.

Noises are like headaches to the medical world, very hard to identify, try not to worry yourself with every little noise under the hood, you will know when something is wrong trust me.

While we are on the topic about the OEM BOV. Since it's connected to the induction pipe. Which way should it be installed? The top of the BOV (Gold part), should it be horizontal (--) or vertical ( | ).

OK, I will change it then. I have mine horizontal where the top hose goes to the intake manifold pipe and bottom hose goes to the induction pipe (pipe connected to MAF and turbo.) I haven't had any problems running like this.

stock bov aka dv will not make any noise unless you have boxless intake, like a injen or buschur

Worrying about how loud your BOV is for Hondas, not Evos.

Functionality is key but I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to hear the BOV/DV

All I've done is add a drop in K&N and I can hear my Tomei DV a good bit more. Plus it added a few ponies!

Is there something wrong that happens if you have your Stock BOV backwards. I didn't realize I had mine backwards and its been like that for 6 months. Nothing functionally wrong with my car and no engine light ever appear in that time. On a side note, the stock BOV did make the same sounds as the Ridox Supra when it was backwards. or

It will sound like a duck and buck at part throttle and WOT. You know when it's not oriented correctly. And to clairify, vertical when attached to UICP and horizontal when attached to the Intake pipe.

Thanks, I put it on correctly now. The car feels a little less powerful but rides smoother. Also, all you here is the turbo spool up and a quick sssst when u let go of the gas.
