Max boost on stock turbo?
23psi, stock turbo, bolt ons. 93 octane.
I see 23-25 psi depending on how cool a summer night it is. I back out around 1 turn on the MBC for the winter.
All you need is a good tune my friend.

23-26psi spike tuned on 93oct, i currently set it to 23psi spike to be in the safe side. TBE, fuel pump, intake with upper piping, and bc. and I recently added a new actuator. hold boost better and smoother coming off the throttle. =]
hey guys, sorry, I'm also new to the Evo game:
With the added boost, are you just using a boost controller and turning it up?
How do you judge whats too much?
The Evo 9 I've just ordered has a boost controller, as well as boost, air/fuel, and all the other necessary gauges. It also has some minor upgrades (no tune) and I'm wondering what kind of boost I should be running.
I'm not looking to blow my engine or overboost the turbo, but I also don't want to be losing out on too much power....

The evo 9 runs rich as nuts from the factory so running 22-24 lbs with other bolt ons isn't going to hurt anything. With a tune they'll just dial in your a/f's a little better and get a consistent a/f curve and maybe mess with timing a little. Your car is gonna run different levels of boost depending on how hard you drive it. Meaning if you've been ripping through the gears and taking it to redline for the past 30 min your car might get a little heat soaked and in return the turbo get's "tired" so to speak. Colder weather your going to run more boost because your cooling that air more efficiently and making better power.

30 psi on 110,,,,, however if you understand you are basically blowing hot air into the intake that why these people and myself are running high octane fuels to supress detonation,,,, On the TD05-16big map, @ 30 PSIg (44.7 PSIa = PR 3.04) and ~ 550 CFM, you're pretty much running off the map,,, Compressor efficiency is down below 60%, this creates a great deal of back pressure on the exhaust side and lots of heat on the intake side. Also, you're spinning up your turbo pretty good ~ 145,000 RPM
that why we use methanol of high octane fuels,, again to supress detonation,, flash point higher.
