Car Wont Start

Ok, to start off with my car (2003 Evo with 50k miles) has only 1 mod, its a catback exhaust. Otherwise the car is totally stock. There are numerous wires running all throughout the car from the previous owners audio system. He just cut the wires to remove his equipment before he sold it. I do have an aftermarket head unit in the car. Its just a basic pioneer mp3 unit.

As of last night my car will not turn over when I try to start it. The battery is brand new and has a perfect charge. The headlights and all other accesories run just fine on the battery. The car will start if I push it and pop the clutch with the key in the on position. Once I push start it, it is giving me a check engine light, battery light, and parking break light which stay on permenantly.

It is also surging to about 15-16 volts while running, even after it warms up. Someone told me that some of the old audio cables could be contacting somewhere and cause this surging. How would this issue affect the starting of the car? This problem literally popped up overnight. It ran and started perfectly fine up until this morning.

Any guesses as to whats causing this? I plan to remove the old wiring first thing tomorrow to see if that has any effect on the surging voltage. But as far as getting the car started normally... I'm not sure where to start with that one.

that is wierd. if ur car battery has 12V it should atleast crank. if it doesn't crank you have a dif issue than voltage.
