Ok I am looking for a 06 MR. I have a 2001.5 Audi S4 I am looking to sell to get into an Evo.

Not sure if anyone has gone from Euro to JDM but this would be my first. I have had alot of VW's and currently have my R32 and My S4. S4 is just getting to be a bit much to handle.

I am thinking I will miss the interior features of the Audi like sunroof heated seats and auto dimming mirror ect..

Just looking for opinions.. I recently did a 6 bolt swap on a DSM I loved working on the motor and also how easy it was to work on. So I am very familiar with the motor and trans..

Is there any benefit from the 5sp to the 6? is the trans worse or better? Haven't owned a 5sp in ages.. I have heard people say that the MR trans is just a 5sp trans with a 6th gear stuffed into it. I don't believe everything I read/hear.

I am 34 so this would be my daily driver and my VW is my track car.. So Light mods to produce solid power but still able to drive every day...

Thoughts?

 

I don't have my book handy, but the gear ratios are very close between both transmissions from 1st to 4th, but 6th is something like .86 and the 5th on a 5 sp is something like .93 or .92 I think. So the 6 sp will get you closer ratios while giving you a little lower revs on the freeway, and more top speed if your engine can pull it. I have an 06mr, and read the trans is a bit weaker but only if the engine is upgraded to a much higher horsepower than most people would do. Something about the gears being phsically thinner, so weaker. I'm not worried about it myself. I liked those S4's, twin turbo 2.7, 250 rated hp and handled pretty well!

 

evo makes a great DD. exterior already looks great. for great power all u need is intake, exhaust, mbc and a tune. night and day difference over a stock evo. get whatever u would like/can afford. i have an 03 8 and love it

 

Thanks Guys. My S4 was full stage 2. almost 300 atw with 361tq. Love it but just hate the amount of money it costs me to keep running.

I really the power of the evo just afraid i will miss the sunroof.. But I think I really want the MR. IDK just torn...
