atp gt3071r quick question.

hey guys i know there s a lot of mixed results about this kit and its slow spool characteristics and im not sure if this is exactly a newb question but if this kit uses the stock manifold....why cant people just port the stock one or buy an aftermarket one in the future just so they dont have to spend so much cash up front? i want a gt30 and 400whp but want good top end and relatively quick spool. i know turbos that do both of these are hard to come buy but wouldnt an aftermarket exhaust mani or porting the stocker help spool alot?

nevermind lol i dont want to get ripped on since i searched this and theres a lot of posts about it even though i didnt find much about having an aftermarket manifold with the kit. whats the next gt30 turbo kit for the best price that spools better than the atp and makes good topend?

I would go with buschur cast manifold gt30 kit or even better go with the br 3065,which is in between a gt30 and gt35r sick turbo.

The red turbo is a little bigger then a gt30,the red spool's at 4200 to 4400 if your looking for a turbo that spools fast and makes power with a lot of tq consider the fp green it spools almost like stock

yea i think that might be the oone for me...im just scared top end will suck. from what i hear it loses power up top. u think if i get the epm open dump o2 housing and a ported manifold along with a larger intercooler it will help up top?

That will help but for more top end consider a aggressive set of cam's like br custom cam's which are jun replica's of gsc 2.

thats what i like to hear. i was thinking gsc s1 cams but ill look at s2's. i still need reliability and will be driving this car daily. will these camshafts be ok for daily driving and i heard they actually get better gas mileage? the cams wouldnt go in for a while though.

Don't forget that you'll need to upgrade your valvetrain with the S2's, but they're still ok for DD, that would be a nice street setup IMO.

im sticking with the s1's and some springs...im not getting that crazy. i really want the red if the spool isnt that bad. i cant really find a bunch of info on it. i heard it hits full boost by 4000 and then others say no way.

My friend noooooooooo way, like i said before it's a little bit bigger then a gt30r,spool start's at 4200 but hit's very hard at 4500 trust me with that turbo, cam's,ported exhuast maniflod,o2 dump, and a good intercooler make's sure it's a garret core which is the best out there because if it's bar plate design and high flowing fin's,there's virtually no heat soak which mean's constant power all the time, with this setup the turbo will spool faster then you think.
