unbelievable, brake question >:(
ok i have my evo IX bought it in june of 2006 love the car only had 1 problem with it.. some air induction thing poped off under the hood, just needed a scewdriver it was a quick fix.. now my break light came on last week not the abs break like just "brake" soo i put the ebrake on a couple times while stationary and it went off it kept comming on so i went into get it checked out
aparently the brake light was on cuz im a little low on break fluid, they also found out that my car needed all new break pads
my car only has 23000 miles on it and i dont race it so i think to myself well its not that bad... then they said the rotors will need to be ground down for the new pads i say ok... they try to find the spec for the rotors but have no luck.. they call 5 @#!@^@#%@$
pice of!@#$%@% dealers all say no we dont have the spec they ask to talk to a tech there they say no i swear i want to rip the heads off
service people... they finally find the spec on the rotor and it cant be ground down so i need to speend close to 1000 for new gdamn pads and rotors, it really blows but what can you do.
Oh the breaks were JUST about to the metal sensor piece it wasnt rubbing on any rotors yet

Yeah, don't even think about buying stuff from the dealer, I was gonna buy my entire evo brake conversion from then, only to find out it'll be roughly 7 grand. Rotorpros is great and the hps pads are also good, I have them on both of my cars.
DBA has rotors for super cheap, if I remember right. I replaced all 4 rotors for ~70 a piece, though I'm not 100% sure it was from DBA. Regardless, they probably lied to you! Welcome to dealing with automechanics! I'm sure all you needed was new pads and fluid
My rotors lasted 53k miles with TONS of track racing on track pads (which reached temps of over 700 degrees)

Theres is NO WAY you need new rotors with that amount of mileage. Thats the way they screw you outta some money. My rotors have 70 thousand on them and are fine and I beat the **** outta my car. Put your new pads on and be done with it.
What the heck is the question here? Did you read your operator's manual regarding the brake light? Light came on because fluid was relatively low. Fluid was low because pads were low, as with low pads the pistons are extended further than usual and therefore more fluid is in the calipers, meaning less is in the reservoir triggering the light.
Or maybe your question is... why are brake parts from the dealer so expensive? Or do you really need new rotors?
Measure the thickness of your rotors. You could also post a cross-view picture which people could guesstimate whether or not they're thick enough.
You don't need to rotors cut for the new pads. Even if you did, it's like a $10 deal at a local Autozone or Pep Boys. You can cut the rotors. The only reason you would need new rotors is if they are too thin. If they are not too thin, then the dealership is trying to screw you, or they are inept (both are likely with dealerships, sadly).

dude, the stock brembo brake pads works super bangin! so....that mean they fade super fast catch my drift? those stock pads a very soft=faster/better braking with less noise (in some aspects) but you can get after market rotors and pads if thats the case, and you'll be saving way more then going to the dealer....just my 2 cents =x GL buddy
