X Starting Mods

What are some good basic set ups to get started on the X. I hear a Cone and tune does wonders.

with that included what would be a good basic quick set up.

No need for brands or anything just a quick run down on set ups. I would like to hear from people that actually have it on their cars with the results but opinions are cool to.

The most common route is intake/exhaust/tune. People have been getting pretty great results with just these few mods. I plan to take this route in the spring, and you'll likely get a bunch of replies from people have done just that. If you're planning on getting an exhaust, I'd do it before the tune so you don't have to take it back in to be re-tuned. Of course, this goes for future mods as well. I tend to think modding in batches is the most fiscally attractive.

Anyway, your plan is a good start.

How far do you plan on going with the car?

If your just looking for a few tasteful mods,

Then do your basic:

Turbo back exhaust, Inter cooler/Piping, drop in filter or cone filter, and tune.

You should net over 300whp on any AWD dyno, and you'd be very happy with the outcome.

Just for the records...

My first mods were:

Custom 3" Intake
Custom 2.5" Upper IC pipe
Custom 3" Lower IC pipe
2.75" Custom IC core
Test Pipe
Exhaust
Tune

I put down 355whp/347 torque.

Chart:

I base lined at 245 whp/271 torque

You can do the math.

For the life of the car 400whp is all im looking at. I dont want to start replacing things because they cant handle the power. I guess i wont set a limit just go till the money stops LOL. But starting off. I would be more than happy with 400whp and be done.

Dang. how much did all that cost. thats over 100whp !

Did the custom parts save you money over the name brand parts? They look just as effective

Back when I started modding my X.... Late Feb.... There were hardly any parts out yet.

So we decided to make our own.... It saved a ton of money, compared to what some vendors around here charge for parts...

If your looking for 400whp.

Go with these mods:

3" Exhaust
3" Test pipe
O2 housing/Down pipe combo
FP Red/ or Blouch Turbo, no preference (bolt on turbo upgrade)
800cc drop in injectors
255 Fuel pump
Intercooler
Intercooler pipes
Intake (make sure your Blow off valve is recirculated)
Clutch upgrade
Tune

You should clear WELL over 400whp on any AWD Dyno, on PUMP gas.

Should be a strong setup for around 500whp on race gas.

If you need any help putting stuff together, let me know.

No probs man

Might try South Coast Mitsubishi. You would need to get the car transported to you ... or fly out here and drive it back... (might be worth it) cause I know South Coast has the Cheapest EVO X's by far.

Good luck bro
